Cardiac Rehabilitation

Coronary Heart Disease continues to be a major health problem. Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease have allowed more individuals to survive a previous fatal cardiac event. Thus there is growing need to help patient improve their quality of life, lessen symptoms, increase functional capacity and decrease disability and through risk factors modification reduce the risk of subsequent morbidity and mortality.

Cardiac rehabilitation programme includes:

Counseling - to tackle issues contributing to their heart disease eg. stress, anxiety.
Education - to patients and family about diet and life style changes required to improve the patients' overall health..
Exercise plan - to start slowly and gradually with proper monitoring of heart rate & possible cardiac symptoms.
Help patient to modify risk factors- eg. High Blood Pressure , Smoking, High Blood Cholesterol, Physical Inactivity, Obesity, Diabetes.
Diet - Help to develop a low fat low cholesterol diet with the help of dietician.
